Completing a Job and Getting Rated
Finishing a job professionally is just as important as starting one. On Hire Local, the way you close out a job affects your chances of getting reviews, repeat clients, and more job invites.
When Is a Job “Completed”?
A job is officially completed when you (the expert) mark it as done, and the customer confirms the work has been completed to their satisfaction.
Steps to Complete a Job
- Finish the work and do a final check
- Go to the job thread in your dashboard
- Click “Mark as Completed”
- (Optional) Send a message summarising what was done or attach final deliverables
- Wait for the customer to confirm completion
What If the Customer Doesn’t Confirm?
- Politely message them and ask if everything looks good
- If they don’t respond after a few days, contact Hire Local support
- Jobs are not auto-completed — confirmation is required for payment release
Getting Rated
After the customer confirms the job is done, they’ll be asked to leave a rating and review. This affects your visibility and trust on the platform.
- Ratings are out of 5 stars
- Reviews are public and show up on your profile
- You can’t rate the customer — only they rate you
Tips to Get Better Reviews
- Communicate clearly and respond quickly
- Deliver high-quality work — ideally better than expected
- Be on time and professional
- Send a thank-you message after the job
Example:
“Thanks again for choosing me! Let me know if you ever need help again. Feel free to leave a review — it really helps.”
Negative Reviews
If a customer leaves a bad review:
- Stay calm — don’t reply with insults or blame
- You may respond with a short, professional reply to clarify your side
- If a review violates guidelines (e.g. abusive, false), you can request a review by support
