How to Create a Strong Profile

How to Create a Strong Profile

Your expert profile is your first impression — it’s how customers decide whether to hire you. A complete, clear, and professional profile will help you stand out and get more job invites.

What to Include in Your Profile

When you sign up as an expert, you’ll be asked to fill out key information. Make sure to complete every section properly:

1. Profile Photo

  • Use a clear photo of yourself (no logos or blurry pictures)
  • Dress appropriately — look approachable and professional
  • Avoid filters or distracting backgrounds

2. Display Name

  • Use your real first name or your brand name if you’re registered
  • Avoid using nicknames or fake names — it builds more trust

3. Bio / About Me

Write a short paragraph about:

    • What you do
    • Your experience
    • What makes you reliable or skilled

Example:

I’m a qualified plumber with 10+ years of experience in residential and commercial jobs. Based in Wellington, I provide fast, clean, and affordable service. I focus on doing the job right the first time.

4. Services / Categories

  • Choose the service categories that match what you offer
  • Be honest and realistic — only list services you actually provide
  • You can add multiple categories if they’re related (e.g. Gardening + Rubbish Removal)

5. Hourly or Fixed Pricing

Set your standard rates:

    • Hourly (e.g. $40/hour)
    • Fixed (e.g. $150 for logo design)

Tip: Be competitive, but don’t undercharge — set prices that reflect the quality of your work.

6. Portfolio or Work Samples (if available)

    • Upload photos of your past work (before/after, design samples, etc.)
    • This helps customers see what you’re capable of

7. Location & Travel Area

    • Add your city and postcode
    • Mention whether you’re available for in-person jobs, remote work, or both
    • If you’re willing to travel, list the areas you cover

Profile Tips to Get Hired More

  • Keep it short and sharp — no long essays
  • Use correct grammar and spelling — it makes you look more professional
  • Update your profile regularly if anything changes
  • Get reviews — your first few jobs are important for building trust

What Not to Include

  • Fake qualifications or false claims
  • Personal contact info (email or phone — use the platform chat)
  • Inappropriate images or language
