Messaging Experts

Communication is a key part of getting jobs done smoothly on Hire Local. The platform has a built-in messaging system that allows customers and experts to talk before, during, and after the job — all in one place.

When You Can Message Experts

You can message experts at these points:

Before hiring:

    • After they apply to your job
    • If you invite them and they show interest
    • To ask questions, clarify their offer, or negotiate

      After hiring:

    • To discuss details, ask for updates, or check progress
    • To send files, instructions, or feedback
    • Until the job is completed and reviewed

How to Send a Message

Option 1: From an Application
  1. Go to My Jobs in your dashboard
  2. Click on the job → View applications
  3. Click the “Message” or chat icon next to the expert’s name
Option 2: From an Expert’s Profile
  1. Go to Browse Experts
  2. Click on an expert’s profile
  3. Click “Message” to start a conversation (if allowed by your settings)

What You Can Send

The messaging system supports:

    • Text messages
    • File attachments (e.g. PDFs, images, instructions)
    • Job references
    • Price clarifications or offer discussions

Don’t Move Outside the Platform

For your safety:

    • Don’t share personal contact details (email, phone, etc.) before hiring
    • Don’t agree to pay in cash or off-platform — this removes your protection
    • All messages and agreements should stay on the platform to ensure support can help if anything goes wrong

Tips for Messaging

  • Be clear and polite — good communication leads to better results
  • Respond quickly to keep things moving
  • If the expert stops replying for a long time, you can withdraw the job or report the issue in the support section
