User Rights & Data Requests
Hire Local respects your privacy and complies with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. As a user, you have full control over your personal data and can request access, corrections, or deletion at any time.
Your Rights as a User
Under privacy law, you have the right to:
- Access your data
Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. - Correct your data
Ask us to fix inaccurate or outdated information in your account. - Delete your data
Request that we remove your personal data from our systems (subject to legal and operational requirements). - Limit or object to processing
Ask us to stop using your data for certain purposes (e.g. marketing). - Withdraw consent
If we use your data based on consent (e.g. newsletters), you can withdraw this at any time.
How to Submit a Data Request
To request access, correction, or deletion:
- Email: privacy@hirelocal.co.nz
- Include:
- Your full name
- Email address linked to your Hire Local account
- Type of request (access, correction, deletion)
- Any relevant details
We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request.
How Long Does It Take?
- Most requests are processed within 20 working days
- If we need more time or cannot fulfill the request, we’ll let you know why
Notes
- We may retain some information if legally required (e.g. transaction records, tax purposes)
- Once deleted, your account cannot be recovered
- For general account changes (like email or phone updates), visit Account Settings in your dashboard
