User Rights & Data Requests

Hire Local respects your privacy and complies with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. As a user, you have full control over your personal data and can request access, corrections, or deletion at any time.

Your Rights as a User

Under privacy law, you have the right to:

  • Access your data
    Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct your data
    Ask us to fix inaccurate or outdated information in your account.
  • Delete your data
    Request that we remove your personal data from our systems (subject to legal and operational requirements).
  • Limit or object to processing
    Ask us to stop using your data for certain purposes (e.g. marketing).
  • Withdraw consent
    If we use your data based on consent (e.g. newsletters), you can withdraw this at any time.

How to Submit a Data Request

To request access, correction, or deletion:

  1. Email: privacy@hirelocal.co.nz
  2. Include:
    • Your full name
    • Email address linked to your Hire Local account
    • Type of request (access, correction, deletion)
    • Any relevant details

We may ask you to verify your identity before processing your request.

How Long Does It Take?

  • Most requests are processed within 20 working days
  • If we need more time or cannot fulfill the request, we’ll let you know why

Notes

  • We may retain some information if legally required (e.g. transaction records, tax purposes)
  • Once deleted, your account cannot be recovered
  • For general account changes (like email or phone updates), visit Account Settings in your dashboard
