What to Do If You’re Not Getting Replies

If you’ve sent a message on Hire Local and haven’t received a response — whether you’re a customer waiting on an expert or an expert waiting on a client — this guide will help you handle it.

Common Scenarios

For Customers:

  • You sent a message to an expert but they haven’t replied
  • You hired someone and they’re not responding to the job
  • You’re waiting on a quote or job update

For Experts:

  • You applied to a job but haven’t heard back
  • A customer invited you but has gone silent
  • You’ve completed work and are waiting on final confirmation

What You Should Do First

1. Double-check your messages

  • Go to your Messages tab
  • Make sure your message was actually sent
  • Check if the other person has read it (if this feature is enabled)

2. Wait a reasonable amount of time

  • Allow at least 24–48 hours for a response
  • Some users may be busy or in different time zones

3. Send a follow-up

  • Politely remind the person you’re waiting on a reply
  • Keep it short and professional

Still No Response?

If it’s been several days and you’ve tried following up:

Go to the job page and click “Report a Problem”

  • Or contact Hire Local support and explain the situation
    • Include the job title or user name
    • Mention the last time you received communication
